Work After Winning – Only If It’s Less Than £5 Million
How many Brits would work after winning the jackpot?
Here at Wink Slots we’re keen to find out what makes you tick and what happens when you win big, so we surveyed 2,000 UK adults with a handful of simple questions on just what they would do upon striking it lucky.
We often imagine how we will spend our winnings like this lucky Scottish couple who scooped £33 million recently, or shopping for these unbelievable holiday homes, but rarely how much it would take for us to give up our day job, and that’s where it gets interesting as data shows the average Briton would want to win at least £5.4 million before giving up their day job!
And more than 1 in 3 (36%) would continue to work after winning a “substantial” amount of money.
Our research also revealed some other interesting findings - including the fact that one in six (16%) would give up their job to work for a charity if they won a significant amount of money.
More than one in 10 (11%) would retrain to get qualified for their dream job, with 1 in 5 (21%) dreaming of getting skilled up for a career in the digital media industry – putting vlogging, video game development and web design amongst the top jobs we’d choose after making the big time.
Other popular dream careers to retrain in included acting, travel/exploration and as a musician.
A quarter of Britons (24%) would invest in a business if they won a substantial amount of money, with property investment (27%) being the most popular form of investments they would make.
Upon winning a windfall, more than eight out of 10 (83%) Brits would keep it a secret from their boss, while almost half (46%) say they would confide in their colleagues.
Unsurprisingly, we are most likely to share the good news with our family (83%) and friends (73%).
So, if you struck it lucky, how much would you need to win to call it a day, and who would you confide in about your good fortune?
